Caribbean with Jex

Wake up to the sound of the ocean, sail to uncrowded surf spots in St Martin and Guadeloupe, and end your day with sunsets from your private deck. Jex — a 10+ year pro surfer and founder of his own surf school — reads the swell with you and matches the break to your level.

The Programme

Sailing surf safaris in the Caribbean

A surf trip on a crewed catamaran combines the thrill of catching waves with the freedom of exploring pristine coastlines. The yacht moves with the swell, so you stay where conditions are best — St Martin one week, Guadeloupe the next, Tobago when the south swell fills in.

Mornings are usually first light at the break — paddle out before the wind builds, work on technique with Jex, and watch back the video on the yacht. Afternoons are for the second swell, snorkelling on rest days, or moving the boat to the next island where the forecast looks better.

The yacht crew remain focused on hospitality, navigation and anchoring you in the right place. Jex stays focused on you and the water. Sample itineraries cover Simpson Bay to Cupecoy in St Martin, and Bas-du-Fort to the windward coast of Guadeloupe — always adapted to the actual conditions on the day.

Jean-Charles “Jex” Dubrey

Born in Sainte-Anne to a Guadeloupean mother and a father from the Vosges, Jex grew up in Helleux, splitting his time between two passions: surfing and football. Surfing won.

After more than ten years of professional competition, extensive travels and the experiences only a touring surfer accumulates, he decided to pass it all on. His surf school welcomes every level. Jex teaches with a spirit of sharing — deep respect for nature, deep respect for people. As a vegan athlete, he’s committed to promoting a healthier lifestyle so we can all live in harmony with this environment.

Common Questions

What guests ask first

What level of surfer is this for?
All levels. Jex tailors break selection and session structure to who’s in the water — from confident first-timers to advanced surfers chasing reef breaks.
When’s the best season?
Caribbean winter (November through April) for the most consistent north swell. Summer is possible too — smaller, friendlier waves and fewer crowds.
Do you have sample itineraries?
Yes — 7-day itineraries for both St Martin and Guadeloupe. Both are adapted to the actual swell forecast on departure, never run rigidly.
Can non-surfers come?
Absolutely. The yacht anchors near beautiful beaches for swimming, snorkelling and shore exploration on rest days.
Where does the trip start?
Simpson Bay (St Martin) or Bas-du-Fort Marina, Pointe-à-Pitre (Guadeloupe), depending on the itinerary.
