Maldives surf safari

Catamaran-based surf trips through the Maldives’ most coveted reef passes — North Male, South Male, Central Atolls and beyond. Aboard the Liquid Coconut, with surf instructors as part of the crew, you wake up moored next to the break.

The Programme

Atoll to atoll, break to break

The Maldives is built for catamaran surf safaris. The breaks are mostly reef passes, each one a different atoll. Going by yacht is the only way to surf them properly — you sleep at one break and wake up at the next, with a chef onboard and the line-up a tender ride away.

We run these trips on the Liquid Coconut, a Leopard 45 sailing catamaran, with surf instructors who live on board for the season. They know the reef passes, the wind windows, the tides. The captain knows the moorings. You focus on surfing and recovery.

Each day is shaped by the swell and the wind. North Male in the morning, South Male after lunch, Central Atolls when the boat moves overnight. Rest days are spent on the reef snorkelling, on the foredeck reading, or in the water for a breath-hold session before the second swell fills in.

Common Questions

What guests ask first

What level should I be?
Confident intermediate to advanced. Maldivian reef passes are forgiving compared to Indonesia but still require comfort taking off on reef. Beginners are better served by our Caribbean programme with Jex.
When’s the best season?
The main southwest-swell season runs March through November, with peak conditions June through September. We can advise on the best weather window for your dates.
How long are the trips?
Seven to ten nights is standard. Longer trips let you reach the central and outer atolls.
Can non-surfers come?
Yes — the yacht is a full luxury platform with snorkelling, free-diving, SUP and reef-walking. Plenty for a partner or family who don’t surf.
Where does the trip start?
Malé (the capital). Internal flights between atolls aren’t needed — we move you by boat overnight.
