Catamaran-based surf trips through the Maldives’ most coveted reef passes — North Male, South Male, Central Atolls and beyond. Aboard the Liquid Coconut, with surf instructors as part of the crew, you wake up moored next to the break.
The Maldives is built for catamaran surf safaris. The breaks are mostly reef passes, each one a different atoll. Going by yacht is the only way to surf them properly — you sleep at one break and wake up at the next, with a chef onboard and the line-up a tender ride away.
We run these trips on the Liquid Coconut, a Leopard 45 sailing catamaran, with surf instructors who live on board for the season. They know the reef passes, the wind windows, the tides. The captain knows the moorings. You focus on surfing and recovery.
Each day is shaped by the swell and the wind. North Male in the morning, South Male after lunch, Central Atolls when the boat moves overnight. Rest days are spent on the reef snorkelling, on the foredeck reading, or in the water for a breath-hold session before the second swell fills in.
