Dear Family and friends — what if, just this once, we did something completely different?
Not another holiday filled with schedules and sightseeing—but a real escape. Time to breathe deeply, feel alive, and reconnect with ourselves and each other.
I just received a brochure in the mail from Odyssea Yachting and haven’t stopped thinking about this unique vessel and what she has to offer. Sequoia is a handcrafted motor sailing yacht designed for small, intimate journeys - no more than six guests. It’s perfect for families who want time together, surrounded by nothing but nature, sea, and sky. What if that family was us?
We could do a wellbeing-focused charter, or even a dive or freedive retreat- something tailored just for us. Imagine the calm of the open sea, the kind of silence you only find underwater, and the joy of discovering a place that still feels untouched. It sounds dreamy, I know. But what if we actually did it?
Let me tell you a bit more about Indonesia...

The Komodo Archipelago
First, let me tell you about the Komodo Archipelago where drifting through there feels like entering another world—untouched, raw, and alive. It’s the kind of place that speaks to your soul. With jagged peaks like Padar and Lawa Laut rising dramatically from the sea, and over two dozen remote islands beyond Komodo and Rinca, every dive feels like a discovery.
The underwater world is something else entirely. One place that truly stole my breath was the Sape Strait, a hidden channel between Sumbawa and Komodo. It’s teeming with life—graceful manta rays gliding silently past, while swirling walls of barracuda shimmer around you. It's wild and unpredictable in the most magical way.
Places like Saleh Bay and Moyo Island offer a different rhythm—calmer, more introspective dives. Floating beneath the surface there, with Tambora Volcano towering in the distance, you’re reminded of how ancient and alive this region is. Every current, every reef, every breath holds a story.
Komodo isn’t just a destination—it’s a deep, unforgettable connection to the ocean.

Raja Ampat
Now, I just have to tell you about Raja Ampat— a sprawling archipelago of over 600 islands and 900 shoals, set within 11 million acres of Marine Protected Areas. Here, nature feels amplified—crystal-clear waters reveal kaleidoscopic coral gardens, while the land showcases white sand beaches, emerald lagoons, and dense rainforest canopies.
It’s a paradise for freedivers and ocean lovers. Picture drifting through shallow reefs, exploring the famous Mushroom Islands, or gliding through the peaceful beauty of Fam and the Dampier Strait. Each location—Kawe, Waigeo, Misool, Kofiau Boo—has its own unique marine world to explore. Every stop feels like a new adventure, a personal story written with every breath you take underwater.
Chartering a private vessel through these two remote regions is more than just a holiday—it’s an immersion in raw, untouched nature. It’s the freedom to explore at your own pace, dive in silence, and witness Indonesia's wildest beauty without interruption.
If you’re looking for something unforgettable, this is it.

Papua: A Symphony of Color and Life
Another incredible place we could discover— Papua—often called “Far Away”—is a land of dramatic contrasts. Tucked between the Pacific Ocean and Australia, this remote paradise is full of dramatic contrasts. Towering rainforests stretch across most of the land—lush, alive, and refreshed by daily tropical rains. And then there’s the coast… oh, the coast! Especially around the Bird’s Head Peninsula, where the ocean glows in every imaginable shade of blue.
But what really takes your breath away is what lies beneath the surface. Papua is home to the most biodiverse coral reef system on Earth—with over 1,600 species of reef fish and 574 types of hard coral. In some spots, you’ll find over 100 species of fish in a single acre! It's like diving into a living, breathing underwater galaxy.
Between October and April, the Sequoia sails through this wonderland, covering over seven million acres of protected marine areas—including the legendary Raja Ampat and Kaimana. It’s not just a trip; it’s a journey into one of the richest marine ecosystems on the planet.
I keep thinking how amazing it would be to explore this place together—diving, swimming, just soaking in all that untouched beauty.
Maluku, The Romance of the
Original Spice Islands

There’s something humbling about descending into the Cobalt Blue Banda Sea. Beneath lies the Weber Deep, one of the ocean’s greatest abysses—7,440 meters of mystery that makes every breath, every dive, feel sacred.
Above the surface, cone-shaped volcanoes rise like ancient sentinels, fringed with palms and golden beaches. The scent of nutmeg still lingers in the air, a trace of the spice-laden winds that once drew explorers from across the globe. Freediving here isn’t just about the marine life—it’s about diving into the layers of time itself.
The reefs are untouched and vibrant, teeming with life—schools of tuna, barracuda, and unexpected encounters that make your heart race. But it’s also quiet here. Still. You feel the weight of history and the depth of the sea in equal measure.
From October to November, aboard Sequoia, we journey through the protected waters around Ay and Rhun Islands—remote, rarely visited, and absolutely unforgettable. This is more than a freediving destination. It’s a place where nature and legacy breathe together, just beneath the surface.
I keep thinking how much you’d all love it there. It’s not just a trip—it’s a journey into something deeper, a connection with the ocean and the stories it holds.

The Lesser Sundas: Islands of Ancient Beauty and Unique Life
The Lesser Sunda Islands in southeastern Indonesia is a place that feels like nature, culture, and time have woven together something truly magical—This incredible chain of islands is like a living mosaic, shaped by volcanoes, ancient traditions, and the isolation that has preserved so much of its wild beauty.
Here, you can see landscapes that feel almost prehistoric—rugged coastlines, dry savannahs, hidden coves, and dramatic volcanic peaks rising straight out of the sea. It’s also one of the only places on Earth where you can come face-to-face with the Komodo dragon—the world’s largest lizard! The biodiversity is extraordinary: rare birds, wild orchids, and coral reefs shaped by powerful ocean currents. It really feels like stepping into a natural wonderland that’s still untouched by time.
What makes it even more special is exploring it aboard Sequoia, a beautiful, intimate vessel that sails through this lesser-known region with such care and respect. Every stop along the way connects you not only to the stunning natural world but also to the rich cultural heritage of the islands. It’s the kind of experience that feels both adventurous and deeply meaningful.
This is the perfect place to reconnect, explore, and make unforgettable memories together.

What Makes Sequoia So Special
I’m so excited about Sequoia—because she offers not just a boat, but a truly luxurious and intimate way to experience Indonesia’s breathtaking beauty.
I really think this could be the perfect trip for us—to reconnect, explore, and create memories in a way that’s both meaningful and truly special.
Imagine coming home not just rested, but changed. What do you say? Shall we make this dream a reality?
